Notorious Studios is rebranding its PvPvE extraction RPG, formerly known as Legacy: Steel & Sorcery, to Eldegarde. The company also announced a firm release date of January 21, 2026.

Fantasy World Gets a New Name: PvPvE Title Reimagined

Originally launched in February as an early access title on Windows via Steam, Legacy: Steel & Sorcery quickly gained traction as a player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) extraction RPG. Players navigate a fantasy world, leveling up characters, battling enemies with weapons and magic, and attempting to escape with valuable loot. The game initially attracted over 3,000 concurrent players upon its early access release, demonstrating strong initial interest in the genre.

More recently, peak concurrent player counts dipped to 47 within a 24-hour period, according to data from SteamDB. Despite this, Notorious Studios announced the title change via a Steam news post, with the store page now reflecting the new name, Eldegarde. This shift comes as developers increasingly refine their games based on player feedback and market trends.

Release Date Confirmed for 2026

To build anticipation for the full launch, the studio released a launch trailer on its official YouTube channel. The trailer showcases the game’s third-person fantasy RPG gameplay, differentiating it from the more common first-person shooter focus often seen in the extraction genre. The growing popularity of extraction-based games highlights a demand for challenging, high-stakes gameplay experiences.

The official release date is set for January 21, 2026.

Eldegarde is currently available in early access on Windows via Steam for $31.50 (currently priced at $25.20 until January 6, 2026). The full release is scheduled for January 21, 2026.
