Investor Claims Mother’s Job Loss Fueled Opposition to H-1B Visa Program
American investor James Fishback publicly linked his opposition to the H-1B visa program to his mother’s job loss in Florida, alleging companies prioritize foreign workers over qualified Americans.
During a recent panel appearance, Fishback claimed his mother was terminated from her position in 2021 and subsequently replaced by an H-1B visa holder. He asserted that companies often do not interview American candidates before seeking foreign labor. “CEOs complain they can’t find skilled workers in America. But under the H-1B program, they’re not even required to interview an American—not even to post the job publicly for Americans to see,” Fishback stated. “So how can they say Americans aren’t skilled if you have the unmitigated gall…to not even interview a single American worker?”
Fishback further criticized what he called a “slanderous lie” promoted by CEOs and the Chamber of Commerce regarding the skills of American workers, stating, “Americans are the brightest, hardest-working, most brilliant people in the world, and we cannot apologize for it.” He has also called for the elimination of all visa programs, arguing that foreigners do not have a right to jobs or resources in the United States. This debate comes as the H-1B visa program faces increasing scrutiny regarding its impact on the American workforce; you can learn more about the program’s requirements on the USCIS website.
In social media posts, Fishback described foreigners as “guests” who should be welcome to visit but not to compete for American jobs. He has called for a complete halt to visas for those he deems “job takers,” arguing they strain healthcare, education, and national resources. Immigration reform remains a contentious issue in the United States.
Fishback has continued to advocate for his position on X, formerly Twitter, and has not yet responded to requests for further comment regarding his claims.
