Harold “Brent” Pharis Named Director of Fargo VA Health Care System
Harold “Brent” Pharis will assume leadership of the Fargo Veterans Affairs Health Care System on November 2nd, the VA announced today.
Pharis currently serves as the associate director of the VA’s Central Iowa Health Care System and brings extensive experience in veteran healthcare administration. He holds degrees from Liberty University and Dallas Christian College, as well as a healthcare analytics certificate from the University of Nebraska. Notably, Pharis is a veteran himself, having served as a medic during tours in Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and began his career with the VA in 2013.
Judith Johnson-Mekota, interim executive director of the VA Midwest Health Care system, stated, “I am certain that the experience he has received in leadership positions in the VA and in the Midwest Health Care Network has prepared him to provide the leadership and guide the employees and volunteers, our health care partners, the community, and importantly the Veterans we are honored to serve.” The Fargo VA system is a critical resource, providing care for approximately 34,000 veterans across North Dakota, northwest Minnesota, and a portion of South Dakota. Access to quality veteran healthcare is a continuing national priority, as outlined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Pharis’s appointment comes as the VA continues to focus on improving access to care and addressing the unique needs of the veteran population. Officials stated Pharis will focus on continuing these efforts and fostering strong relationships with community healthcare partners.
