HyunA Apologizes to Fans After On-Stage Faint at Macao Concert
K-pop soloist HyunA publicly apologized to her fans today after fainting on stage during a performance at WATERBOMB MACAO 2025, an incident that has raised concerns about artist well-being in the demanding K-pop industry.
The incident occurred while HyunA was performing her song “Bubble Pop” in Macao. Following the collapse, security personnel carried her off stage, and she was attended to by backup dancers. HyunA later addressed fans via social media, stating, “I’m truly, truly sorry… Although it was only a short time since my last performance, I wanted to show you a great performance, but I don’t feel like I managed to be professional, and to be honest, I don’t remember anything.”
HyunA also revealed she had lost 10 kilograms (approximately 22 pounds) in the month leading up to the concert, previously sharing her struggles with weight loss on Instagram, describing the challenge of “changing the first digit” of her weight. She continued in her apology, “Many Macao fans came, including our A-ings (HyunA’s fans), and everyone paid money to watch this performance, so I feel apologetic and truly sorry.” She reassured fans, stating, “I’m really okay! Don’t worry about me!”
HyunA debuted in 2007 with Wonder Girls before finding success with 4Minute and as a solo artist, becoming a prominent figure in K-pop. The South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recently increased scrutiny on artist health and contracts, following similar incidents involving other K-pop idols as reported by Reuters.
HyunA’s agency has not yet released a statement regarding her current condition or future performance schedule, but has indicated she is resting and recovering.
