Apple Intelligence Now Supports Eight Additional Languages in Latest iOS Update
Apple Intelligence, the tech giant’s suite of artificial intelligence features, expanded its language support today with the release of iOS 26.1, bringing the total number of supported languages to 16.
The update, launched yesterday, adds Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, and Vietnamese to the existing list of supported languages. Previously, Apple Intelligence was primarily available in US English, with gradual additions over the past year since its initial debut in iOS 18.1. This expansion allows a significantly broader global user base to access features like enhanced Siri capabilities and on-device processing of personal requests.
The full list of languages now supported includes English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese, according to Apple’s website. iOS 26.1 also includes other updates such as an alarm slider, expanded AirPods Live Translation, and enhancements to Apple Music and Fitness. iOS 26.1 launched last week to all users, and among new features for Apple Music and Fitness, an alarm slider, and AirPods Live Translation expanding, the update also brought Apple Intelligence support to eight new languages.
Apple Intelligence expands to many new languages in iOS 26.1
Apple Intelligence recently entered its second year of availability, with the first features having debuted late last October in iOS 18.1.
At launch, Apple Intelligence supported only US English, but Apple has steadily added new languages over time.
Now, iOS 26.1 brings one of the biggest expansions to date, with eight new languages supported.
Here are the new Apple Intelligence languages:
- Chinese (traditional)
- Danish
- Dutch
- Norwegian
- Portuguese (Portugal)
- Swedish
- Turkish
- Vietnamese
In total, there are now 16 languages supported, not counting the various localized versions available for certain languages.
The full list, per Apple’s website, includes: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese.
For those just trying out Apple Intelligence for the first time, iOS 26 recently brought 20+ new AI features to iPhone users, and even bigger changes are expected in the months ahead as part of iOS 26.4 and iOS 27.
The former release is expected to bring Siri’s long-delayed AI upgrades, while rumors for the latter recently started spreading.
