Tulungagung officials are under intense scrutiny following a major anti-corruption investigation by Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The probe centers on allegations involving the local regent and has triggered widespread administrative fallout across the regency.

The KPK has confirmed it seized documents and approximately 95 million rupiah in cash linked to an extortion case targeting the regent. Officials say the money and paperwork were recovered during coordinated operations as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct in office.

In response to the developments, the regional secretariat of Tulungagung has been placed under tight security. Multiple regional apparatus organization (OPD) heads have been summoned for questioning, with several undergoing formal interviews regarding their roles in recent personnel transfers.

Investigators are also examining claims of clandestine meetings held outside Tulungagung related to the reassignment of civil servants. Authorities say these discussions may have involved efforts to influence staffing decisions outside standard civil service procedures.

The Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in East Java has announced it is monitoring the legal status of its local cadres involved in the case. Party representatives stated they are tracking developments closely to ensure due process is followed.

Heightened security measures remain in place at the Tulungagung regional headquarters as the investigation continues. No arrests have been publicly announced, and all implicated officials have denied wrongdoing through their legal representatives.
