Indiana Fever’s Lexie Hull Named Glamour Woman of the Year, Details Resilience Through Adversity

Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull was named a 2025 Glamour Woman of the Year today, recognizing her perseverance through personal and professional challenges, and her commitment to the game of basketball.

Hull, who has navigated a career marked by adjustments – from playing alongside her twin sister at Stanford to adapting to the WNBA as an individual – opened up to Glamour magazine about the mental fortitude required during her early years in the league. “There were times when I started that it was like, ‘If I shoot, it needs to go in because otherwise I might get benched or I might get cut,’” Hull explained. She credited the arrival of Caitlin Clark in 2024 and the subsequent turnaround of the Fever for bolstering her confidence, stating, “I know I’m going to get open shots…I’ve put in the work to set myself up for this, and I’ll live with the outcome.”

The 2025 season presented physical challenges as well, with Hull sustaining multiple facial injuries – an elbow to the face against the Minnesota Lynx and collisions resulting in two black eyes against the Seattle Storm, followed by a bloody lip versus the Chicago Sky – while the Fever fought for a playoff spot. Despite the injuries, Hull remained steadfast. “I will put my body on the line, and I will try everything. I will stand up for whoever,” she said. Hull also addressed the increased physicality the Fever faced due to the attention surrounding Clark, noting that a heightened level of competition across the WNBA is ultimately beneficial. This recognition comes as the WNBA continues to grow in popularity and visibility.

Hull also spoke out against the rise in hate speech directed towards WNBA players, emphasizing the importance of respectful dialogue. She also reflected on the unexpected departure of DeWanna Bonner from the Fever, stating the situation ultimately fostered greater unity within the team. Despite falling short of a championship, the Fever’s unexpected playoff run – upsetting the Atlanta Dream and pushing the eventual champion Las Vegas Aces to a decisive Game 5 – demonstrated their resilience. Officials stated the team is focused on recovery and preparation for the 2026 season.
