Jesse Love Secures Pole for United Rentals 250 at Talladega
Jesse Love will start first in Saturday’s United Rentals 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, marking his third consecutive pole position at the track.
The 20-year-old driver of the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet posted a lap time of 52.605 seconds (182.036 mph) in a weather-shortened qualifying session today at the 2.66-mile Alabama track. He edged out rookie William Sawalich by 0.097 seconds for the top starting spot. Christian Eckes and fellow rookie Carson Kvapil will start third and fourth, respectively. Several other NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoff contenders secured top-10 starting positions, including Austin Hill, Connor Zilisch, and Justin Allgaier.
While many Playoff drivers qualified well, Sammy Smith will start 11th, with Sam Mayer and Sheldon Creed starting 13th and 16th. A significant issue occurred for Taylor Gray, whose No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota experienced power loss during qualifying, resulting in him starting last in the 38-car field.
