After initially appearing poised to sign with Hapoel Tel Aviv, the situation surrounding Nigel Hayes-Davis has shifted as other teams have entered the competition with new offers.
According to reports, Hayes-Davis is set to join Athens for three seasons, playing through the end of this season and for two additional years.
Hayes-Davis, who has spent several years playing in the EuroLeague and previously won a EuroLeague championship with coach Šarūnas Jasikevičius, decided to pursue opportunities in the NBA. However, during 27 games with the Phoenix Suns, he averaged 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
The Suns traded the 31-year-old forward to the Milwaukee Bucks, who immediately waived him. As no other NBA team pursued his services, Hayes-Davis became a free agent.
Panathinaikos currently holds a record of 16 wins in 27 EuroLeague games and is ranked eighth in the league standings.
Last season in the EuroLeague, Hayes-Davis averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and a 18.3 efficiency rating per game. He also holds the EuroLeague record for most points scored in a single game, having recorded 50 points against Alba Berlin a couple of seasons ago.
