Xiaomi has launched its first dedicated gaming smartphone, the Redmi K90 Max, marking the company’s official entry into the high-performance mobile gaming market.
Unveiled on April 22, 2026, the device centers around an advanced cooling system featuring an 18.1mm internal fan working in tandem with a vapor chamber. According to Xiaomi, this active cooling setup reduces device temperature by up to 10 degrees Celsius during intensive gaming sessions.
The Redmi K90 Max also boasts robust durability, earning IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. Xiaomi is backing the cooling system with a six-year warranty for users in China.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, paired with a custom D2 graphics chip designed to maintain stable frame rates in demanding games. It supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and offers storage options up to 1TB using UFS 4.0 technology.
The display measures 6.83 inches and uses an AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness reaching 3,500 nits. It also includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded beneath the screen for secure authentication.
Battery life is supported by an 8,550mAh silicon-carbon cell that enables 100W rapid charging. Xiaomi has also included a “bypass charging” feature that powers the device directly during gameplay, reducing heat generation and helping preserve battery longevity.
The launch underscores Xiaomi’s strategy to compete in the premium gaming smartphone segment, combining high-end specifications with thermal management innovations aimed at serious mobile gamers.
