Sharjah international Airport reported record growth in 2025,with substantial increases in passenger traffic,flight operations,and cargo volume. The airport handled nearly 19.5 million passengers – a 13.9% rise year-over-year – demonstrating the Emirate of Sharjah’s increasing prominence as a regional travel and logistics hub[[1]]. These figures reflect continued investment in infrastructure and a strategic focus on enhancing capacity and service quality, according to airport officials.
Sharjah International Airport reported a significant increase in passenger traffic in 2025, handling 19.48 million travelers compared to 17.1 million in 2024 and 15.36 million in 2023. This represents a growth of 13.9% over the previous year.
The airport also saw a rise in flight operations, with a total of 116,657 aircraft movements in 2025, up from 107,760 in 2024 and 98,433 in 2023 – an increase of 8.3%.
Air freight continued its upward trend, reaching 204,323 tons in 2025, compared to 195,909 tons in 2024 and 141,358 tons in 2023.
Maritime freight services through Sharjah Airport also experienced growth over the past three years, increasing from 12,566 tons in 2023 to 14,035 tons in 2024, and further to 16,770 tons in 2025.
Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, stated that “The results achieved during 2025 reflect the success of the airport’s long-term strategy and its continued commitment to operational excellence, as embodied by the continuous increase in passenger numbers and air cargo volume, in line with its goals of enhancing capacity, improving service quality, and supporting the economic and tourism ambitions of the Emirate of Sharjah.” He added that “Continued investment in infrastructure, digital systems, and sustainability initiatives represents a fundamental pillar in the airport’s growth path, alongside expanding partnerships with airlines and logistics service providers.”
Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, noted that “The results of 2025 reflect the advanced role that the airport plays in supporting travel and business, which enhances Sharjah’s position as a pivotal destination on the map of regional and international markets.”
He further explained that “This growth is based on an integrated system, including advanced infrastructure, effective operational governance, and a supportive regulatory environment, enabling Sharjah Airport to respond to increasing traffic requirements efficiently while maintaining high levels of service quality and reliability.”
