Valve has announced a price increase for the Steam Deck OLED in the Asia-Pacific region, effective March 6, 2026. This comes as the company also signals potential delays for the long-awaited Steam Machine, adding complexity to its hardware plans.

The price adjustment for the Steam Deck OLED impacts customers across Asia, including Taiwan, where the device will witness a price hike. This move follows a period of fluctuating hardware costs and supply chain dynamics, impacting the affordability of gaming hardware for consumers.

Originally released in North America on February 25, 2022, and in Europe on the same date, the Steam Deck has become a popular handheld gaming computer, running games available on the Steam storefront. An OLED version was released worldwide on November 16, 2023, and in Australia on November 19, 2024. The original LCD model was discontinued on December 19, 2025.

The Steam Deck boasts a range of specifications depending on the model. LCD versions feature 16 GB of unified LPDDR5-5500 memory, whereas OLED models upgrade to LPDDR5-6500. Storage options range from 64 GB eMMC to 1 TB NVMe SSD. Both models include a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

The handheld features a 7-inch display, with LCD models offering a 1280×800 IPS touchscreen and OLED models providing a 7.4-inch 1280×800 HDR OLED touchscreen. Powering the device is an AMD APU with a quad-core Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 graphics.

While details surrounding the Steam Machine delay remain limited, reports suggest the launch may be postponed. The Steam Machine, with over six times the horsepower of the Steam Deck, is designed to run Valve’s gaming-first operating system, SteamOS. This potential delay highlights the challenges of bringing new hardware to market in a volatile global economic climate.

More information about the Steam Deck can be found on the official Steam Deck website. Details about the Steam Machine are available at the Steam Machine sale page.
