A major traffic jam is impacting travel on the Trakia motorway, approximately 42 miles before reaching Sofia, according to reports from motorists sharing updates on social media. The roadway is reportedly uncleared, contributing to the standstill.

Drivers are reporting complete gridlock, stating, “We are not moving.” The difficult conditions on the Trakia motorway are attributed to inclement weather.

Earlier reports indicated slowed traffic on the Trakia motorway near Ihtiman, also in the direction of Sofia. Several tractor-trailers have reportedly become stuck, blocking lanes and causing significant backups. The disruption highlights the challenges of winter travel in the region.

The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) stated earlier that over 515 snow removal vehicles are currently working to clear roadways throughout the country.
