UAE: Braille Services Support Nearly 1,000 Students Since 2006

The zayed Higher Association for People of Determination is bolstering educational accessibility in the UAE, having provided vital learning resources to nearly 1,000 students since 2006.The organization announced Sunday it is indeed currently supporting 34 students with braille textbooks for the 2025-2026 academic year, part of a larger effort to promote inclusivity through specialized materials and professional advancement. Beyond direct student support, the organization’s initiatives also extend to broader community outreach and training programs for educators and professionals.

Nearly 1,000 students have benefited from accessible learning materials provided by the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination since 2006, demonstrating a continued commitment to inclusive education. The organization reported Sunday that 34 students are currently receiving braille textbook services for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Throughout the current academic year, 320 braille textbooks were distributed for the first semester, bringing the total number of braille textbooks provided since the program’s inception to 27,430. Additionally, 367 electronic copies were delivered during the first semester, contributing to a total of 10,087 electronic textbooks distributed to date.

The organization’s reach extends beyond students, with 205 entities now benefiting from braille publications and awareness materials. In 2025 alone, 7 organizations received 3,500 copies of a directory of relevant organizations and institutions.

Zayed Higher Organization has also focused on professional development, offering training to 229 individuals in the field of visual impairment since 2016. Between 2021 and 2025, the organization provided 519 consultations and hosted 19 awareness workshops for staff at government and private sector organizations.
