Cumberland Women’s Bowling Team Finishes Fourth at MSC Greater Nashville Open
The Cumberland University Women’s Bowling team secured a fourth-place finish out of 18 teams at the Mid-South Conference Greater Nashville Open yesterday, totaling a score of 5092 and placing second among Mid-South Conference competitors.
Pikeville won the tournament with a score of 5627, followed by other notable finishes from Tennessee Wesleyan (fifth, 4843), the Cumberlands (seventh, 4136), and Midway (11th, 4564). Cumberland’s performance highlights the growing competitiveness of women’s bowling within the MSC. Senior Gracie Connelly led the Phoenix individually, finishing ninth with a score of 784 and an average of 196, closely followed by Senior Madison Clayton (10th, 779, 194.75 average), Junior Serenity Freeman (11th, 776, 194 average), and Junior Kathleen Schraer (25th, 727, 181.75 average).
The team’s strong showing in the eight baker games, where they averaged 178.5 pins for a total of 1428, allowed them to surpass Tennessee Wesleyan in the standings. Competitive collegiate bowling is gaining popularity, with more athletic scholarships becoming available to talented bowlers nationwide, according to the United States Bowling Congress.
Cumberland will continue their season at the MSC Brandon Burns Memorial, scheduled to take place today at Smyrna Bowling Center. You can find more information about Cumberland University athletics on their official website.
