Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai were transformed into a free, city-wide running course, sponsored by “My Dubai,” creating an exceptional atmosphere for participants of all ages, nationalities, and fitness levels. The event underscored the city’s commitment to community building and promoting an active lifestyle.
The streets of Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai became a vibrant open-air sports venue, with activities beginning at 6:45 a.m. Thousands of runners filled the streets, representing a diverse cross-section of the community. Families, professional athletes, amateur joggers, and first-time runners all participated in one of the most anticipated events of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2025. Illuminated skyscrapers along Sheikh Zayed Road provided a stunning backdrop for the race.
The event featured a wide range of entertainment options, enhancing the experience for participants from before sunrise. Pre-dawn paragliding displays added excitement, while large illuminated puppets and drumming groups energized the crowds. DJs from the “Untold Dubai” festival, along with popular hosts Chris Fed and Katie O’Brien, provided interactive segments at the start and finish lines. Performers, including stilt walkers, jugglers, and circus artists, lined the routes to encourage runners. The finish line was a celebratory hub, with cooling water mists, soap bubbles, and costumed characters greeting finishers.
Saeed Harib, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, said, “The participation of 307,000 people in running through the streets of Dubai this morning reflects the strong community spirit that characterizes the emirate. In the ‘Year of Community’ in the UAE, the ‘Dubai Run sponsored by My Dubai’ serves as a model for a city that makes sports and physical activity a common denominator uniting all members of society, regardless of their ages, cultural backgrounds, or fitness levels.” He added, “Since its inception, this event has continued to achieve remarkable growth, and the large turnout this year confirms Dubai’s position as an active city that inspires residents and visitors alike to adopt a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.”
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, stated, “The ‘Dubai Run sponsored by My Dubai’ embodies the core principles of the ‘Dubai Fitness Challenge,’ providing diverse participation opportunities, broad community engagement, and encouragement for movement and activity. Seeing families running alongside professional athletes, children experiencing their first 5-kilometer race, and the enthusiastic atmosphere at various checkpoints all demonstrate the unique position this event has earned on the ‘Dubai Fitness Challenge’ agenda.” Al Khaja continued, “The remarkable turnout this year reflects the positive impact we can achieve when we move together, with one spirit, towards a healthier and more active community that includes all its segments.”
