Kai Trump Competes in Pro-Am Ahead of LPGA Tour Debut
Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, participated in Wednesday’s pro-am for The Annika tournament at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, before her highly anticipated LPGA Tour debut.
Trump, who received a sponsor’s invite to the event, was seen practicing shots and even taking a break to shoot hoops on the 10th tee, where she made a free throw. She played alongside club owner Dan Doyle Jr. and WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark, who also participated in the pro-am. This event marks a significant step in Trump’s burgeoning golf career, drawing attention as she transitions from amateur to professional competition.
Ahead of Thursday’s opening round, Trump shared advice she received from her grandfather: “My grandpa pretty much told me go out there and have fun. Just don’t get nervous. Try my best not to.” She also spoke about guidance from Tiger Woods, her mother Vanessa Trump’s partner, stating, “I mean, he is the best golfer in the entire world. I would say that. And even better person…He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.” Trump recently committed to playing collegiately at the University of Miami, having signed her letter of intent earlier this week, as reported by USA Today.
Trump is scheduled to tee off shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, and The Annika tournament will continue through Sunday. Officials stated they are prepared for a competitive week and look forward to seeing Trump compete.
