Kansas Marijuana Enforcement Operation Yields Hundreds of Pounds of THC Products, Two Arrests
A statewide marijuana enforcement operation conducted by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) between October 1 and October 2 resulted in the seizure of over 343 pounds of marijuana flower, tens of thousands of THC products, and more than $35,000 in currency.
The KBI executed searches at eighteen vape shops and CBD dispensaries across Kansas, including locations in Wichita, Topeka, and Salina, targeting businesses suspected of selling products with illegal THC concentrations. Yesterday, October 2, authorities arrested Gregory Reese, 63, and Tammy Reese, 59, in Ulysses for allegedly attempting to move THC products to avoid detection; Gregory Reese faces charges including possession with intent to distribute and interference with law enforcement, while Tammy Reese is charged with distribution of a controlled substance and criminal use of a weapon. Additionally, a 20-foot box truck transporting THC products removed from 19 Kansas shops was seized near Fredonia on U.S. Highway 400.
The seized items included 43,867 THC pre-rolls, 35,627 THC vapes, and 84,481 THC and psilocybin edibles. This operation comes as Kansas lawmakers continue to debate the potential for medical or recreational marijuana legalization, a discussion often fueled by the availability of these unregulated products. The KBI noted that evidence is currently undergoing testing and investigations are ongoing. You can find more information about the Kansas Bureau of Investigation on their official website.
The KBI stated that charges related to unlawful distribution and possession with intent to sell are possible as the investigations progress. The agency is continuing to analyze the evidence collected and further details will be released as they become available.
