A shooting in Montijo, Portugal, late Sunday resulted in the deaths of two men, prompting a manhunt for a suspect described as having a work connection to the victims. The incident, which unfolded near the popular “Café do Apeadeiro,” highlights the growing concern over workplace disputes turning deadly and has triggered an examination by the Setúbal Judicial Police [[1]]. Authorities are working to identify the victims and determine the circumstances leading to the shooting, which underscores the potential for violence even in seemingly localized conflicts.

Two men died Sunday night following a shooting in Montijo, Portugal, authorities confirmed. The incident, which occurred as a potential workplace dispute, is under investigation by the Setúbal Judicial Police.

According to a source with the National Republican Guard (GNR), both victims were transported to Barreiro Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The two victims were transported to the Barreiro hospital and were declared deceased within the hospital unit, the source said. Authorities are still working to formally identify the men and determine their ages.

The GNR had earlier indicated to Expresso that the victims may have been related. The shooting underscores the potential for escalating violence even in seemingly contained disputes.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene at 7:55 p.m. local time. Paramedics initiated advanced life support measures on the victims, who were found in cardiac arrest, before transporting them to the hospital around 8:45 p.m., accompanied by teams from the National Institute of Emergency Medical Services (INEM).

The shooting took place near “Café do Apeadeiro.” A total of 23 emergency personnel and eight vehicles from the fire department, GNR, and INEM responded to the scene, securing the area and providing initial medical assistance.

The suspected shooter, described by the GNR as a man with a “work relationship” with the victims, remains at large. Authorities are investigating whether he acted alone or with others.
