The Pohang Steelers of South Korea’s K League 1 have added four promising young players to their roster for the 2026 season.

The club announced on December 23rd that they’ve signed Kim Ho-jin (20), a product of their U-18 youth system, along with Kim Beom-jun (18) and Jo Young-jun (18). They’ve also added Yoon Dae-geun (18) from Yeongdeok High School.

Kim Ho-jin, a graduate of Pohang Jecheol High School, offers versatility as both a center back and defensive midfielder. He’s developed a reputation for solid defensive skills and strong build-up play, earning a spot on the roster for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup and gaining valuable international experience.

Known for his relentless work rate and power, Kim Ho-jin stated, “Having been a ball boy during games as a kid and dreaming of playing for this team, I will do my absolute best to become a player that the fans remember.”

Kim Beom-jun and Jo Young-jun progressed directly from Pohang Jecheol Middle and High School into the professional ranks.

Kim Beom-jun is a dynamic midfielder possessing excellent ball control, dribbling ability, and a quick shot. He’s lauded for his football intelligence and ability to read the game, adding a spark to attacking transitions. He aims to become “the second Ko Young-jun,” and is expected to bring tenacity and energy to the Pohang midfield.

Jo Young-jun is a versatile player capable of featuring at both full-back positions and in midfield. He excels in build-up play and passing, with a particularly accurate long throw being a key weapon. Having represented South Korea at various youth levels, he looks up to veteran Shin Kwang-hoon. “As a rookie, I want to prove my worth with aggressive play and earn the support of the fans with my commitment on the field,” Jo said.

Yoon Dae-geun, a native of Yeongdeok and a lifelong Pohang supporter, is a commanding central defender known for his strength in challenges, aerial duels, and defensive leadership. He’s a tough tackler who also demonstrates a willingness to play out from the back. “It’s a dream come true to play for Pohang, the team I’ve supported since childhood. I want to show everyone what I’m capable of, regardless of my age,” Yoon stated.

With the addition of these four prospects, Pohang continues to invest in its future. The club has already given nine rookie players their professional debuts this season, demonstrating a commitment to developing young talent and providing opportunities for the next generation of stars.
