Prince Andrew Stripped of Title and Evicted from Royal Lodge
Prince Andrew has been removed from his role as a prince and will vacate his residence at Royal Lodge following sustained scrutiny regarding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Buckingham Palace announced today, October 30, 2025, that the King’s brother will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. This decision follows weeks of renewed attention to allegations made by Virginia Giuffre, detailed in a recently published memoir, and comes after Andrew previously relinquished his title as Duke of York earlier this month. Giuffre’s family stated she “brought down a British prince with her truth and extraordinary courage,” following her death earlier this year.
The Palace confirmed a formal process has begun to remove all of Andrew’s styles, titles, and honors, and that notice has been served to terminate his lease on Royal Lodge. He will relocate to private accommodations on the Sandringham Estate, funded by King Charles. The move signals a significant attempt by the monarchy to distance itself from the ongoing controversy, which has damaged public trust. “These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the Palace statement read. While Andrew’s daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, will retain their titles, and he remains eighth in line to the throne, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will also be required to move from Royal Lodge. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy stated the move sent a “very powerful message to the victims of grooming and sex offences.” The case highlights the growing pressure on public figures to be held accountable for associations with those accused of sexual abuse, as reported by Reuters.
