A graphic text message allegedly sent by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has resurfaced, drawing renewed attention to his past relationship with journalist Olivia Nuzzi. The message was published online by Nuzzi’s former fiancé, journalist Ryan Lizza, on the Substack platform, as reported by HuffPost.

Lizza shared a text message purportedly from the 71-year-old Kennedy to the 32-year-old Nuzzi. The message contains explicit language and detailed descriptions of sexual fantasy. “I want to flow through you. I want to subdue and tame you,” reads one excerpt. Lizza indicated that the message was one of several similar texts, some of which were too explicit to publish.

The emergence of this message follows reports last fall of a “personal relationship” between Kennedy and Nuzzi while he was a presidential candidate and she was covering him for a profile piece. Following the reports, Nuzzi parted ways with New York magazine, and her engagement to Lizza was terminated. Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines, previously denied any impropriety.

Nuzzi Details Kennedy Relationship in Upcoming Book

Nuzzi explores her text and phone-based relationship with Kennedy in her upcoming book, “American Canto,” scheduled for release in December. According to the New York Times, Nuzzi does not name Kennedy directly in the book, but describes a relationship with a presidential candidate she was covering as a political reporter. She also describes being captivated by his “blue, flame-like” eyes.

She claims in the book that Kennedy expressed a desire to have a child with her. However, Nuzzi has repeatedly stated in interviews that the relationship remained entirely digital and did not involve physical intimacy. She also wrote that his age – 39 years her senior – was not a concern, stating that she and Kennedy shared “a common language, a common skepticism, common notions of what was beautiful, common convictions about what mattered.”

The authenticity of the newly published text message remains unconfirmed. Neither Kennedy nor Nuzzi have yet issued a statement.
