Newman held a lead as late as 20-18, with contributions from Isabella Lamb, but Missouri Southern rallied to win the set 25-22. Newman continued to battle in the second set, jumping to a 7-0 lead, but ultimately fell 25-20. The third set saw a competitive start, but Missouri Southern closed with a 6-1 run to secure the sweep, 25-17.
