Three Die in Separate Homicides in Anchorage, Alaska

Three people died in separate incidents across Anchorage yesterday evening, prompting increased police patrols throughout the city.

The first incident occurred at 6:51 p.m. in the 2000 block of Fiddlehead Place, where officers discovered a woman with upper body trauma consistent with a stabbing. Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Later, at 8:21 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Cordova Street, finding a man and a woman deceased at the scene.

Authorities have not yet indicated any connection between the three deaths, and both cases are currently under active investigation. This surge in violence comes as Anchorage is hosting the annual Alaska Federation of Natives convention, drawing a larger-than-usual crowd to the city.

“Our top priority is the safety of everyone in Anchorage,” Police Chief Sean Case stated. “We also want our residents, our Alaska Federation of Natives visitors, and those from Western Alaska who are seeking shelter in Anchorage to know that APD is fully engaged and committed to keeping our city safe.” Anyone with information regarding these incidents is urged to contact Police Dispatch at 311 (option 1) or 907-786-8900 (option 0), or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.

The Anchorage Police Department will maintain increased patrols throughout the weekend to enhance public safety and reassure the community.
