Man Shot and Killed Confronting Suspected Car Thief in Minneapolis
A man in his 40s was fatally shot in the torso this morning while reportedly confronting a suspected car thief outside his workplace in south Minneapolis.
Police responded to the scene just before 7:00 a.m. today, October 30, 2025. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. “During that struggle, the victim was shot,” O’Hara stated. The victim was discovered by a coworker approximately 20 minutes after the shooting, who then contacted emergency services.
According to Chief O’Hara, the victim appeared to have been at the start of his shift and went to the parking lot, where he encountered the individual. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding violent crime in urban areas and the risks faced by citizens.
Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and have requested the public’s assistance with any information related to the incident. Minneapolis Police have not yet announced any suspects in custody.
