PGA’s Luke List Records Octuple-Bogey 12 at World Wide Technology Championship
PGA Tour member Luke List experienced a disastrous 15th hole during today’s third round of the World Wide Technology Championship, carding an octuple-bogey 12 at the par-four hole.
The incident occurred at El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas, where List, who had comfortably made the cut, required an astonishing 10 strokes to reach the green. While List began the day 10 strokes behind leader Matti Schmid in the FedEx Cup Fall event, the score significantly impacts his chances of advancing in the season-long competition. The PGA Tour’s play-by-play function recorded the final shot as “From green, in the hole – Just exceptional.”
Golf statistician Rick Gehman noted the score represented the most fairway shots on a single hole in the last seven years. Although a shocking score, it falls short of the PGA Tour record of 19, held by Dale Douglas at the 1963 Bing Crosby National Pro-Am. List finished the round with a 13-over 85 after the 12, and will now be playing for pride on Sunday. The World Wide Technology Championship is one of the remaining events in the FedEx Cup Fall, where players are battling to secure their tour cards for next season.
PGA Tour officials have not yet released a statement regarding the incident, but are reviewing the play-by-play data.
