Brockville Printing Company Owner Named Leeds and Grenville Entrepreneur of the Year

Jenn Winter, owner of Ignite Printing in Brockville, was named Leeds and Grenville’s Entrepreneur of the Year yesterday at the annual Bridges to Better Business event, recognizing her business acumen and community contributions.

The award, presented on October 23rd at the Joshua Bates Centre in Athens, Ontario, acknowledges a business owner demonstrating perseverance, risk-taking, and a commitment to achievement. Counties officials highlighted Winter’s “commitment to innovation, customer service, and giving back to the community by offering free signage and materials to local non-profits.” This recognition underscores the vital role small businesses play in the local economy.

Other awards presented included the Immigrant Entrepreneur Award, given to Trang Vu of Janine’s Gardens, and the Inclusive Employer Award, which went to Alin & Associates Chartered Professional Accountants. The event also celebrated the graduation of seven entrepreneurs from the Starter Company Plus program, each receiving a $5,000 grant to support their ventures. Participants benefitted from professional training in business fundamentals, planning, and cash flow management, a program similar to those offered by the Small Business Development Centre.

Keynote speaker Fraser Hardy emphasized the potential of artificial intelligence to help small businesses compete with larger corporations by streamlining operations and increasing productivity. “If a small business can use AI as a tool to enhance their operations, it can level the playing field,” Hardy stated. Carol Hardy, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville’s small business development officer, noted that 99% of businesses in the area are local, small businesses and the event aims to provide them with the resources they need to thrive.

Officials stated the event will continue to focus on providing resources and support to local entrepreneurs, helping them navigate the evolving business landscape.
